Look Ma, No Makeup!

I have been lucky enough to have decent enough skin on my face, but dry skin everywhere else.

Not being very good with makeup, I would generally go without.  I am not sure if this is because I feel like I look  like  a drag queen with make up,  my skin looked better without makeup (i have been told this several times) or I just never learnt how to apply makeup properly.

Someone who saw me without makeup, asked me lip gloss I used on my lips.  When I told them I wasn’t wearing any, they couldn’t believe it!  For some reason, they thought my pale pink lip colour was actually lip gloss!

Yes, I know I am dark skinned, but that does not mean there are no dark skinned people with natural pale or even light red lips.

Anyhoos, this person insisted I must be wearing makeup & I walked away laughing at how some people can be so blindly ignorant.

Like I said, I am not very good with makeup.  Mascara gets in my eyes, which makes my very sensitive eyes itch, burn & go red, so I always skip it.  In fact, I would only wear mascara for REALLY special occasions, which is why I buy a new tube of mascara once a a year.  Kinda pointless really, as the mascara goes dry in the tube after 3 months.

Foundation, I do not like and once again I tend to skip.

My makeup face will normally consist of eye shadow in subtle colours (only if I am going somewhere nice), a slight hint of powder blusher (if I feel my skin is looking rather dull), some eye liner for definition ( only ever on my lower lash line) and lip gloss, which never ever lasts more than an hour before the need to reapply.  Most of the time I put on just eye liner, lip balm for dry lips and talcum baby powder over my nose and  T zone area.

The one thing I cannot live without is talcum baby powder, it stops shine in its tracks and one thing I do not like is a greasy, looking face.

When I am at home or in my local neighbourhood, I wash & moisturise my face and that is it.

Here are pictures of me, with bare skin and pictures of me with makeup.  And, yes, my lips ARE naturally THAT colour.

NO MAKE UP – yes, my lips look a bit shiny. I have a bad habit of licking them constantly as they get quite dry

NO MAKE UP – Nothing at all

NO  MAKEUP – sometimes the bathroom light makes my skin look, well, lighter

NO MAKEUP HERE EITHER!

  1. The way you layer the makeup on it looks so natural you can’t hardly tell much. (That is a good thing) You are beautiful with or without.
